Psalms 116:13

Pictures of salvation's supply in today's activities

I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.

Psalms 116:13

Our salvation is not a “someday” salvation.

It has very real resources for this day. When we drink in the ways our Savior came to us, we gain greater clarity in how to generously pour into the lives of others:

  • He washed the feet of those who’d fallen short (and would still yet fall short), that they’d later understand his love for them.

  • He recognized Peter’s overemphasis on human concerns and brought him back to the things of God.

  • He went the long route through Samaria to converse with the woman at the well.

  • He took the time to spend an afternoon with two followers of John the Baptist.

  • He ate with the despised and overlooked tax collectors.

  • He wept over the wayward as he entered Jerusalem.

  • He bore the cross on our behalf.

As one author put it: “Love always takes the time.”

Father, Son, Holy Spirit - Orient us today to approach others as you approach us - even if that means going the longer route, taking extra time, washing feet, engaging the overlooked, speaking up, or weeping on behalf of someone else. Amen.
