Isaiah 55:8-9

Moving from perspective to view

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

Most of our human misunderstanding has to do with our confusion between perspective and view.

We humans have the thin slice called perspective, but we prefer to think we have the whole view. Isaiah invites us to consider the higher view God actually has:

  • His standard is holy, so His salvation is critical.

  • His timeframe is eternity, so His patience is broad.

  • His presence is everywhere, so His fruit is abundant.

  • His knowledge is infinite, so His understanding runs deep.

  • His creation needs redemption, so His love is the instrument.

When we consider His higher view, we gain greater perspective, and can give Him greater authority.

Lord, let us see as you see, that we’d live with your priorities. Amen.
