Exodus 17:4

If you haven't prayed in some time...

Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”

Exodus 17:4

If you haven’t prayed in a while, Moses’ prayer here offers a great starting point.

Don’t get me wrong - it lacks a lot. There’s no eloquent, theological wording. No acknowledgment of all God is. No preface for an intro, or smooth landing that sums everything up nicely.

But it also lacks some other things.

It lacks Moses’ ideas for how God ought to operate. There’s no tight-gripped outcome Moses already has in mind. And it’s without the fullness of any perspective beyond his own.

But it’s a cry to the Lord.

It’s perfect.
